Int'l Entrepreneur's Network - Forum Policy and Guidelines ---------------------------------------------------------- The Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network, available on CompuServe, became available to CIS subscribers during June, 1985. This electronic network was organized by The Entrepreneurship Institute, a non-profit organization, to provide entrepreneurial support, educational information and guidance for starting and existing businesses throughout the free world. To carry out this mission, the following Forum Policies and Guidelines have been established. It is the responsibility of each and every member of this Forum to understand and abide by these Policies and Guidelines. Topics of Policies and Guidelines --------------------------------- 1) Advertising and Solicitations 2) Membership Sign-up 3) Member Directory 4) Data Libraries 5) Protocol 6) Copyright -------------------------------- 1) Advertising and Solicitations An advertisement or solicitation on the USEN is considered any text that is displayed on our Message Board, Member Directory file, Data Libraries, or Conference facility (during a regularly scheduled conference) which includes promotion and PRICE for a product or service. This includes suggested retail, discounted, hourly fees, subscription fees, dues or any other display of any monetary charges that are associated with the USEN member's products or services. Any text that is deemed an advertisement or solicitation, as outlined above, will be deleted or erased from this network. Any USEN member who displayed the text will be notified that the text has been deleted or erased, and requested to read this file for further information. Any member who refuses to abide by this policy will be refused access to the Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network until the member agrees (in writing) to abide by this policy. The Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network encourages its members to announce what type of products or services they provide, and will accept this announcement on the Message Board, Member Directory file, Data Libraries, and/or Conference facility (during a regularly scheduled conference), as long as: a) If pricing is to be discussed among interested parties, this should be done on CIS's EasyPlex mailing system. b) The announcement includes the line: For further information, please contact me via EasyPlex, and/or include a postal mailing address, & telephone number. c) Announcements are posted only on one (1) sub-topic (Message Board and/or Data Library), and another announcement cannot be posted until the first has scrolled off or has been deleted from the Message Board or has been erased from the Member Directory file or Data Library. Multiple announcements are acceptable if the subject matter of the announcements is different, i.e. different product, service, opportunity, etc. Special Consideration --------------------- Raising Financing: Since raising financing is an integral (probably the most important) part of starting or expanding a business, the Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network will accept including "how much money" is needed to finance the business. But the posting of this type of annoucement will be limited to the guidelines outlined in 1a, 1b, & 1c. Also, this type of announcement must be posted by the person who is pursuing the financing, or by an interested party who is not being monetarily compensated or who charges a fee to do so. 2) Membership Sign-up Any CompuServe subscriber may access the Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network, and its features and services provided through its Message Board, Data Libraries, Member Directory file, and Conference facility. To become a member, CIS subscribers must enter their First and Last Name. The USEN will not accept first names only, last names only, company names, nicknames, or handles. The only exception is in the Conference facility, where USEN members may use any of the above, except handles. Any member who does not follow these guidelines will be notified of this policy, and requested to change his name to conform to this policy. If the change is not made within 24 hours upon request, the USEN member may be removed from the membership roster, and will have to re-join. 3) Member Directory (MD) The Member Directory file is available to all USEN members, and all members are encouraged to enter their interests/ expertise, so that other members can locate and correspond to those that may offer assistance or specific help relating to their business needs. The Member Directory file must include the user's First and Last Name, and a brief entry of text. Any file that does not include a First and Last Name, and/or a brief entry of text, will be deleted. Any MD file that includes price will be deleted. USEN members will not be notified that their MD file has been deleted, unless it was deleted for reasons not outlined above. 4) Data Libraries All USEN member may access the Data Libraries provided on this Forum. All USEN members may submit files for the Data Libraries that are educational, provide insight and assistance on business-related topics, and can benefit other members by the information contained in the file. USEN members who submit any file(s) for our libraries may include their name, company name, address, telephone number, and user I.D. number at the end of the file, plus a copyright notice, if applicable. They may also include a brief (3 - 5 lines, 64 column width) description of the type of services they provide, as long as the description follows the guidelines outlined in this policy. Member Profile Library - Any files submitted to Data Library 1 - Member Profile must conform to the instructions included in Data Library 1's DEScription file (accessable from the DL1 Menu). USEN members may not submit any files to any libraries that are strictly self-promotional, an advertisement, or solicitation for their, or any other, company or business venture, unless the Int'l Entrepreneur's Network designates such a library for this expressed purpose. Any USEN member that submits a file to the Data Libraries which is considered self-promotional, an advertisment, or a solicitation, will be notified within 24 hours of such decision, and will receive a brief explanation as to why the file(s) are unexceptable. 5) Protocol The Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network will not tolerate any slanderous remarks, abusive or profane ature should be reported to the Forum SysOp immediately. 6) Copyright All materials copyrighted by the Int'l Entrepreneurs' Network are protected by the laws governing copyrighted materials in the United States, its territories, and applicable treaties with other foreign countries.
